Step 1: Count the buttons on your key
Look at the front of your key and count the buttons: 2, 3 or 4. Lock, unlock and boot each count as one button. This is the single most important check.
Step 2: Is it a smart key or a flip key?
- Smart key (push-button start): a flat remote with no metal blade sticking out. You keep it in your pocket and start the car with a button.
- Flip key: a metal key blade that folds into the remote.
